Lets Get Back To Book Blogging :)

I haven’t posted anything on this site in such a long time and for that I would like to apologise. Not just to you but also to myself. I enjoyed writing reviews on the books that I had recently finished reading, coming up with different ideas so that this site wasn’t just a book review site, with tags and other daily books memes that go hand in hand within the book blogging community. I was enjoying doing all of this so much that I purchased this domain name, to match my twitter and Instagram name.

I had one goal when I took out this website, which was to post more. Not just book reviews, but everything book related that I could possibly come up with. This was going to be my way of staying in touch with other readers, as I live in a reality where I am surrounded by non-readers, except for one person. So when it comes to talking about books, it can be something of a struggle to do. My lack of posting hasn’t had anything to do with any lack of reading and therefore having nothing to post, because believe it or not, I have read so much more than I’ve read in a while. I have been in a bit of a slump, not a reading slump but a slump in general and I want to turn it all around. All of the books that I have been reading, I have read and left reviews of every single one of them on Goodreads.

I want to get back to posting reviews, creating idea and get back to all of this, back onto this site and doing it within the Book Blogging Community. Thank you all πŸ™‚

Discussion: What kind of reviewer are you?

Hello there πŸ˜€

I have chosen to do my first discussion topic on something that all Book Reviewers and people who read Book Reviews should understand. This is my second website that I have created, and in doing so I have made the decision to not include starred or number based reviews in any of my reviews. The problem I find with including stars or numbers is that you are, or I was at least, constantly comparing books to others I’ve read and reviewed, therefore judging which was better and using the star/number system as so. If this one was better than that one, then it deserves a higher rating, but it wasn’t as good as this one, and definitely didn’t deserve the highest rating. I didn’t want to have to worry about this when it came to my new site and reviewing books. I wanted to be completely honest and open, so I stopped using them, this way it could just be my honest, unbiased review. However, when it comes to Goodreads and online review sites, eg Amazon, NetGalley etc, I still use the star system to rate books.

However, when I read other people’s reviews on Book Blogs and other places, I do subconsciously seek out what they thought by looking for their rating. I know this makes me a hypocrite, but sometimes it’s the easiest way to see if a book you’ve been interested in reading for while is any good, without reading a lengthy review.

What about you? What kind of reviewer are you? Do you like seeing a star or numbered rating when it comes to reading book reviews? How do you decide what to rate the book you’re reviewing? And how do feel about reading book reviews that doesn’t include any star or number ratings?

Welcome

Hello fellow book bloggers and welcome to my blog CaughtWithABook. If you didn’t get it from the title, this blog is going to be about all things bookish. I have always had a great love of reading and being able to dive into a book and be transported into another world and I guess I can also do that with this blog, whilst also sharing my love, my thoughts and so on about everything.

Some of the things I will be hopefully including in this blog, now and in the future, are going to be; Book Reviews, Book Hauls, Tags, Discussions and so on. If these are things that you think you’ll be interested in, then please follow me and let me know if there is anything else you think I should be doing on my blog that I haven’t mentioned. I have included in more details a page “About Me” if you click on About on the Home page, which also includes contact information, if you need it.

This is just a short little welcome and introduction post and to say thank you for hopefully welcoming me once again into the wonderful world of the Book Blogging Community. Thank you and I hope to be posting more soon πŸ™‚
